In this post I'll talk about AISI 304L. First let's describe it and then have a look at its material's properties.
What is AISI 304L?
AISI 304L stainless steels are variations of the 18 percent chromium 8 percent nickel austenitic alloy, the most familiar and most frequently used alloy in the stainless steel family. Type 304L is preferred because of its greater immunity to intergranular corrosion.Application

AISI Ranking Research (Stainless Steel)
While engineers will often look for the cheapest material they can use, I took a different approach to material's selection to help newbie students.I ranked materials according to their yield strengths and AISI 304L currently ranks 72 in my yield strength index. This means there are other 71 materials that are more resistant.
Note: I've analysed 77 materials in order to create an yield strength index. Check my material's comparison post for more details.
