What is AISI 800?

AISI 800 is a nickel-iron-chromium alloy that resists carburization and oxidation at elevated temperatures.

Steel production. Thermal processing fixtures. Power generation. Chemical and petrochemical processing equipment.

AISI Ranking Research (Stainless Steel)

While engineers will often look for the cheapest material they can use, I took a different approach to material's selection to help newbie students.

I ranked materials according to their yield strengths and AISI 800 currently ranks 35 in my yield strength index. This means there are other 34 materials that are more resistant.
