Specific Gravity of Talc 🪨 (& Formula, Definition, Infographic) rev. 2022

Definition

The specific gravity of talc is the ratio of the density of talc to that of a reference substance (Usually water).

This information can be used to tell whether talc will float (or sink) if dropped in water (Buoyancy).

Formula

SG = ρtalc / ρwater

Note: Both densities need to be in the same unit as they will cancel each other and produce SG.

Specific Gravity vs Density vs Specific Weight

There are important differences between densityspecific weight and specific gravity. Follow these links to learn about the differences between them.

I will provide you the talc specific gravity in a dimensionless unit (Unitless) in this page. You may check how it converts to kg/m³ (SI unit), g/cm³, g/ml, kg/l, lb/ft³ by following the link below:

Specific Gravity of Talc (Relative to Water)

SG = 2.82
