Definition
The specific gravity of hydrochloric acid is the ratio of the density of hydrochloric acid to that of a reference substance (Usually water).
This information can be used to tell whether hydrochloric acid will float (or sink) if dropped in water (Buoyancy).
Formula
SG = ρhydrochloric acid / ρwater
Note: Both densities need to be in the same unit as they will cancel each other and produce SG.
