Heat of Fusion

Heat of fusion is the heat necessary to change a substance's state from solid to liquid (at constant pressure).

Introduction

The heat of fusion is the quantity of heat necessary to change 1 g of a solid to a liquid with no temperature change. It is also a latent heat and is sometimes called the latent heat of fusion.

According to wikipedia…

The enthalpy of fusion of a substance is the change in its enthalpy resulting from providing energy, typically heat, to a specific quantity of the substance to change its state from a solid to a liquid, at constant pressure.

Heat of fusion equation

The formula of specific latent heat of fusion is given by: Q = mL, which is the required specific latent heat of fusion equation.

Heat of fusion symbol

∆H

Heat of fusion and vaporization

Heat of fusion is the energy needed for one gram of a solid to melt without any change in temperature.

Heat of vaporization is the energy needed for one gram of a liquid to vaporize (boil) without a change in pressure.

Citation

When you need to include a fact or piece of information in an assignment or essay you should also include where and how you found that piece of information (Heat of Fusion).

That gives credibility to your paper and it is sometimes required in higher education.

To make your life (and citation) easier just copy and paste the information below into your assignment or essay:

Luz, Gelson. Heat of Fusion. Materials Blog. Gelsonluz.com. dd mmmm. yyyy. URL.

Now replace dd, mmmm and yyyy with the day, month, and year you browsed this page. Also replace URL for the actual url of this page. This citation format is based on MLA.
