Sources
Found in iron pyrites. Also in crookesite, hutchinsonite and lorandite. Most is recovered from the byproducts of lead and zinc refining.

Soft gray metal that looks like lead.
Name Origin
Greek: thallos (green twig), for a bright green line in its spectrum.
