Every atom has an atomic number, even Barium. But what is an "Atomic Number"?
The atomic number of a chemical element is the number of protons found in the nucleus of the atom of that element.Ok so I'll take you through some interesting facts and data about Barium (That most people don't know).
Barium Overview
Atomic Symbol
Ba (Barium)
Description
Soft, slightly malleable, silvery-white metal.
State at 20 °C
Solid
Sources
Found in barytine (BaSO4) and witherite (BaCO3), never found in pure form due to its reactivity. Must be stored under kerosene to remain pure.

Uses
Barite, or barium sulfate (BaSO4), when ground is used as a filter for rubber, plastics, and resins. It is insoluable in water and so is used in X-rays of the digestive system. Barium nitrate, Ba(NO3)2, burns brilliant green and is used in fireworks.
