Definition
The density of timber is the weight of timber per its volume.Formula
ρ = m / V
- ρ: Density
- m: mass
- V: Volume
Density vs Specific Weight vs Specific Gravity
I would like to point out that there are conceptual differences between density, specific weight and specific gravity. Follow the link if you want to learn more about these differences.With that said, this page will provide you the timber density in kg/m³ (SI unit), g/cm³, g/ml, kg/l, lb/ft³.
Density of Timber
Density varies depending on species and moisture content. On average 700 kg/m³:
𝛒 = 0.7 g/cm³
𝛒 = 700 g/ml
𝛒 = 0.7 g/L
𝛒 = 0.7 g/L
𝛒 = 43.700 lb/ft³
